Sigourney is 63 today, as Ripley she completely redefined the role of women in sci-fi and challenged gender roles in the genre to its very foundation.
as Ripley she was also to become the only sci-fi character to ever be nominated by the Academy for an Oscar (leading actress for Aliens in 1986) which was a monumental feat (take that boys!)
but to me not only she's one of my fave actresses ever (hello Death and the Maiden) but as Ripley she taught me all about what it truly means to be a survivor, which i would become later on in life and for that i'll always cherish her just a tad more ;)
