not alone
my diagnosis was profound depression with a duration over 20 years. i was 29 and for most of that particular battle very few spoke my language and i felt utterly alone because even some people in therapy refused to acknowledge themselves, their condition, thus my decision to be ever so outspoken about it.
i had had enough silence to last me for a lifetime or two. for the most part people facing a depression are made to feel as if we're not supposed to be here, but then there's that strange connection of the soul when you meet somebody and they know they're actually been seen and that they're ok ... lives are touched, changed and saved that way!
we - the broken people - are indeed supposed to be here, now more than ever, in a world where many are just going through the motions. we may be and/or have been open wounds but the alternative is the real death and coming from the long dark night of the soul one realizes that we are here not to hide but to enlighten.
depression is not an end it is but the beginning, but for that people need to understand they're holding on to a shell of a life that no longer suits them if it did, they wouldn't be broken ... step out of the cage, face and reclaim your life ... now is the time. especially because *you.are.NOT.alone!*
anybody who has depression in their lives should read Kat's piece ... Going Public With Depression by Kat Kinsman
[ps - William Styron's Darkness Visible was and is one of my beacons in the night ... he spoke my soul and language like very few did ... shall be forever grateful for deciding to buy that book based on the title alone]

love and self
“We cultivate
love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen
and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that
offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection.
Love is not
something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a
connection that can only be cultivated between
two people when it exists within each one of them – we can only love others as
much as we love ourselves.
Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which love grows. Love can only survive these injuries if they are acknowledged, healed and rare.”

you are not alone. i am here!
Marilyn Monroe killed herself 50 years ago ... from having been there: ask.for.help! not for others, but for you!!!
not all people will get it or be able to help but that shouldn't keep you from asking the right ones! you are not alone!
«There are stories you have not told, songs you have not sung, images you have not yet brought to light—and we eagerly await them.»

the way of the dodo
"what makes a man a man? a friend of mine once wondered. is it his origins? how he comes to life? i don't think so. it's the choices he makes. not how he starts things...but how he decides to end them.» (Hellboy)
and this, my dears, is why decisions were made and some people finally went the way of the dodo ... because of their choices, and more than how they started things, it was how they carried on and avoided to properly end them at all costs.

on waiting
“So the day became one of waiting, which was, he knew, a sin: moments were to be experienced; waiting was a sin against both the time that was still to come and the moments one was currently disregarding.” Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere
